Barolo DOCG Bussia

Tasting Notes

Our Barolo Bussia follows a strictly traditional approach. It originates from a small, prestigious vineyard in Monforte d’Alba, on the border of the Barolo municipality, in one of the denomination’s most celebrated areas. The sandy soil composition imparts an elegant yet remarkably complex profile to the wine.

Production is intentionally limited to approximately 2,000 bottles per year to best showcase the unique characteristics of this plot. The work in the vineyard is meticulous and constant, from Guyot pruning to the careful selection of clusters during harvest.

The winemaking process features traditional fermentation for about 30 days with extended maceration, followed by 18 months of aging in large oak casks and a further 6 months in the bottle before release.

While this wine can be appreciated just months after bottling, it is designed to evolve beautifully over time, developing ever-greater elegance.

Even the label tells an important story: it depicts the ciabot (traditional small stone house) located on the Bussia hill. The artwork was designed by the new generation of the family, who now work alongside the estate’s founders in the cellar.

Color: deep garnet ruby red.

Fragrance: very pleasant and delicate, with notes of dried rose, and hints of licorice and vanilla from the oak.

Taste: velvety, dry, round, rich and well-balanced in both body and structure.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.

Gastronomic combinings: excellent with risottos, fondue, game, red meats, and meat-based dishes in general (roasted, grilled, or spit-roasted).
